Pakistan grants approval to Starlink!
Starlink is a satellite based internet service provider which provides high speed and uninterrupted internet connection. It has been developed by SpaceX which is an aerospace company founded by Elon Musk.
It is observed to be faster than any other satellite internet as it supports download speeds 100-500 mbps. It also has the ability to provide connection to remote and underdeveloped areas which are usually marginalized in terms of the basic broadband internet.
In early January Starlink applied for approval to operate in Pakistan and hence was waiting for acceptance since then. During that time perioad there were rumours that some IT and Tech companies in Pakistan have started using Starlink illegally even before the approval process started.
This clearly shows that how desperate us Pakistani's are for such a reliable and fast internet service considering the current condition of our internet connections. These companies imported Starlink kits through unofficial channels or third parties. The government and PTA issued warnings against unauthorized Starlink usage, stating that it was illegal and could lead to penalties. Moving on, as Pakistan has finally provided the acceptance for Starlink to start operating, we will talk about 3 key permissions which have been given to Starlink: 1) NOC (No Objection Certificate) from PTA (Pakistan (Telecommunication Authority) 2) Rights for transmission of signals from FAB (Pakistan's Frequency Allocation Board) 3) Internet service provider license from PTA. However, affordability can be a big issue for Pakistan. Following are the expected Starlink pricing packages:
Residential Package Monthly Fee: Approximately PKR 35,000 Internet Speed: 50–250 Mbps One-Time Hardware Cost: PKR 110,000
Business Package
Monthly Fee: Around PKR 95,000
Internet Speed: 100–500 Mbps
One-Time Hardware Cost: PKR 220,000
Mobility Package
Monthly Fee: Approximately PKR 50,000
Internet Speed: 50–250 Mbps
One-Time Hardware Cost: PKR 120,000
The entrance of Starlink in Pakistan's industries will hopefully create milestones for people and help boom our IT and Tech industry in the upcoming years. Lets be positive about it! Thank you for reading, and I hope you find this discussion valuable! Maew!!
