Pakistan and China Strengthen their Digital Ties!

Pakistan and China have collaborated before on various events and which have helped in strengthening ties between both of them. Recently they both shook hands on an agreement to improve the digital infrastructure in Pakistan. This cooperation has its focus on a few domains like digital technology, Artificial Intelligence(AI), information and communication technology(ICT) and digital economy as a whole.

Ministry of information technology and telecommunication posted, "
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in emerging technology, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital governance, aligning with Pakistan’s vision for a digitally empowered future."

This all will be made possible through potential training that will be provided to Pakistani students in leading Chinese universities on AI and data sciences to train the youth for contribution in further technological development. This will target in improving the capacity building in ICT to discover potential in Pakistan's technological capabilities.

To raise the potential Pakistani students available to benefit from this program it has been decided to increase the available exchange programs to China. Training centers will also be established within Pakistan to facilitate locals not part of the universities.
Therefore, training opportunities will be available both at Chinese universities and domestically in Pakistan.

This joint initiative between China and Pakistan holds the potential to revolutionize Pakistan's IT and tech sector. By upskilling the workforce, expanding job opportunities, and establishing a robust digital infrastructure, it paves the way for a more competitive, tech-driven economy.

Pakistan will be able to diversify its revenue streams as it escapes from traditional markets like agriculture and textiles to AI, big data and cybersecurity. Moreover a
skilled workforce will make Pakistan an attractive outsourcing hub for global tech firms, bringing in foreign direct investment (FDI).

While startups can leverage this innovation to scale and thrive, it also risks fostering over-reliance on Chinese expertise, potentially hindering the development of Pakistan's own digital capabilities.
